The Walden Food Bank is a non-profit organization that distributes food to individuals in our community who are in need.
We serve clients from west of Copper Cliff, to Beaver Lake.
We are entirely volunteer-driven! We have a group of 8 extremely devoted volunteers who work hard each week to help friends and neighbours in our community.
In April 1999, the Walden Food Bank moved to its present location on Sixth Avenue. The food bank got its start years before at three of the local churches in Lively. It has since grown significantly in usage.
An important add-on to the Walden Food Bank is the Good Neighbours Project. This joint collaboration is a combined effort of Trinity United Church and Waters Mennonite church in Lively. Each month, they make 150+ healthy frozen meals that are distributed to our clients. In addition, volunteers are present each Thursday to serve snacks, and hot & cold beverages to our clients.
